Go big or go home: turning Alaska2Patagonia into a round the world expedition

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. ― Mark Twain

Gotta do what it is that I do, Then I’m coming back. Got the sun in my face, Sleeping rough on the road, I’ll tell you all about it, When I get home. ― Stereophonics, Long Way Round

The greatest danger in life is not to take the adventure. ― George Leigh Mallory

Look, if you had one shot, one opportunity To seize everything you ever wanted Would you capture it or just let it slip? ― Eminem, Lose Yourself

Maybe I let myself get carried away but this post needs four citations. Not for me, no, but for my mom (if she even read my blog, I think she’s found it six months after I started travelling).

Now the turning point from Alaska to Patagonia has been rounded. Yes, I’m still far from Ushuaia, more so because I have been stuck in Cuenca in Ecuador for over six weeks due to a herniated disc. But one thing is certain, sooner or later I’ll arrive in Ushuaia and surely that cannot be this adventure’s destination.

The more I look at a world map and the more I realize that crossing the American continent is just one stage but there are four other continents to cross. And I want to cross them all. I want this to be an expedition that travels across every of the five continents to make a real round the world adventure journey.

On the other hand, I would not know what to do going home for the simple reason that it would be premature, it would not be an appropriate place for me because in my heart I know that for now what I must do is travel the world with my bike. There are no other projects.

This is the most formative experience I could do, it is a real university of life and I aim to for the degree, the master’s and the PhD.

Moreover, I have also just launched my postcards club, it would be a shame to end the initiative in such a short time, I have yet to hone my art.

After arriving in Ushuaia I’ll find a way to get to Cape Town in South Africa to pedal up the continent, it would be nice to get to Jordan and ride to Petra; we will see how the situation is in the Middle East at the time. Or get to the Arabian Peninsula, cross the desert of Oman and somehow find a way to arrive in Iran, one of the most hospitable countries in the world for bike tourers, as well as all the “Stans” of the Silk Road.

These are secondary problems because now the main problem is what to do with the name of the blog. The options are twofold: keeping the Alaska2PAtagonia name or change it to davidetravelli.com – what do you recommend? Give me your suggestions in the comments.

Let’s go big!

I think you should rename the blog “lets go Big”. Definitely not the version with your name.

How many characters can the name be? Grow the name as your trip grows. So where would the next destination be? Alaska2Patagonia2FirstPlace2SecondPlace2etc
